It is with great sorrow that Global Outreach Doctors (GoDocs) announces the passing of our Ukraine Country Director, Pete Reed. Pete was providing medical aid to Ukrainian civilian when his ambulance was hit with a Russian anti-tank laser-guided missile in Bakhmut, Ukraine on Feb 2, 2023. Pete was a beacon of humanitarian work – an incredible visionary, leader, compassionate care provider, and an inspiration to us all. He selflessly dedicated his life in service to others, especially those affected by disaster and war. Pete accomplished more in his 33 years than most of us in our entire lives. He leaves behind an incredible legacy.
Pete worked with GoDocs in late 2022 then returned in January 2023 to serve as Ukraine Country Director. Pete was also Founder of Global Response Management as well as a former US Marine.
Pete’s death underscores the devastation war has on innocent civilians, and highlights the importance of humanitarian and medical aid for affected communities. GoDocs is committed to carrying out this work around the world in honor of Pete.
Pete, thank you for allowing GoDocs to be part of your journey. We are incredibly grateful for your service, and we will miss you terribly – especially your sense of humor and quick wit.
GoDocs leadership attended Pete’s awe inspiring memorial and remains in close contact with Pete’s family as we all grieve this immense loss.
